Constantin Papageorgio
Violinist,Composer and arranger was born in Nicosia,
Cyprus.
He studied Violin and Clarinet at
the National Conservatoire of Cyprus
and from 1988-1991 was a leader of
the Cyprus Youth Orchestra. As a
teenage Constantin represented Cyprus at the European Youth Orchestra (Delphi 1991).
He continued his Violin studies in England with Yossi Zivoni and Claire
Parfitt,
Allan Bulard (composition) and
Chris Phelps (Conducting) at Anglia University.
His compositions have been
performed in Europe and U.S.A.
Among other awards as a composer he is a Prize winner of
Arklow International Music Festival in Ireland (2004) and ‘Ivan Spassov’ Composers
Competition in Bulgaria. He holds a National Conservatoire
of Cyprus Violin Diploma, Licentiate of Royal Schools of Music Diploma in Performance,
Bachelor of Arts from Anglia University,and a Postgraduate Degree in Composition from Trinity College of Music.
He is a member of the Cyprus
Symphony Orchestra and the founder/leading Violinist and arranger of the 'Papageorgio String Quartet'
Iraklis Mitellas began to study the
violin at the age of four and his teachers soon realised
that he was exceptionally talented.From a very early age he participated
actively in orchestras, and radio and television programmes.
He was an active and leading member of
the State Youth Orchestra with which he performed a number of works as a
soloist. He also attended classes for long periods and systematically with
distinguished teachers of the violin such as Stelios Kafantaris, Sophie Langdon, Oliver Butterworth.
He represented Cyprus in the Mediterranean State Youth Orchestra.
He also represented his country at the «Musiques Vivantes de Mediterranée»
in Marseille,1993.
He went on to study at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria, from which he graduated with a soloist’s BA
degree, where his professor was the famous Russian soloist and teacher, Arkadij Winokurow, with whom he continued for his
post-graduate studies. Iraklis often performs in other
countries,particularly Austria,either as leader of the orchestra or as
soloist,and always receives excellent reviews.
Nick Papageorgio was born in Nicosia in 1982. He started violin lessons at the age of 6 at Ethnikon Odeion in Nicosia. At the age of 16 he began viola lessons. He was a member of the Cyprus Youth Orchestra and leader in Viola section for 6 years (1996-2002) . In 2006 he finished his studies in United Kingdom obtained a master degree in Viola performance at the Northern Royal College of Music in Manchester. Since 2009 he is collaborating member of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. In addition he works as a violin and viola teacher in El Sistema and for various other music schools in Nicosia. He is currently the Viola player of the Papageorgio String Quartet.
Born in 1985 Gürhan Nuray completed his primary and secondary education in Nicosia Cyprus. After completion of the secondary education, he attended to Hacettepe University Ankara Conservatory for high school and university education. Nuray graduated from the conservatory in 8 years during which he participated in several concerts as soloist and participated in several orchestra and chamber music concerts. In 2005 he received a scholarship from Apple Hill organization and went to the USA for some projects. In 2006 Nuray attended to cello master class in Switzerland where he had the chance to work with Prof. Xenia Jankovich and Prof. Cristoph Richter. During 2005-2007 he participated in Bellapais International Music Festival where he performed as a soloist. Since 2009 he has been performing at Cyprus Symphony Orchestra as an extra player and he is still the cello section leader at the Nicosia Turkish Municipality Orchestra.
